NEW NORMAL, NEW STANDARD

ABOUT

NEW NORMAL NEW STANDARDはそうした日々の変化に対応しつつ、日常を豊かに過ごす方法を提案するプロジェクトです。

Our daily lives are transforming in times of change. NEW NORMAL NEW STANDARD presents ways to enjoy our ever-changing daily lives through design.

This project kicked off during COVID-19 and has evolved over the years, with a different theme each time. In 2020, the theme addressed measures against infectious diseases and how to gracefully incorporate them into daily life. For the following year, 2021, its focus was on "mealtime" to further explore the previous theme. In 2022, the theme revolved around stress-free risk preparations in the face of unstable conditions such as price hikes caused by wars and natural disasters.

The trends and demands reflect the ever-changing times, resulting in significant shifts in the mindsets of designers and their designs. This exhibition retrospectively reviews these past projects, presenting the trajectory of the designers' creative thinking over time in chronological order.

VENUE DESIGN

Dutch Design Week

For the exhibition space for DDW, the goal was to create an atmosphere with minimal materials to enhance the exhibits.

Exhibition stands made of locally procured waste plywood and other resources were installed using wires strung from multiple locations in the space, making maximum utilization of ARAKAWA GRIP. As a result, the works were displayed on platforms that were seemingly floating due to the lighting effect, creating a space that highlighted the exhibits so beautifully.
